The landmark 504-bed hospital, to open in 2025, will meet increasing demand and bring a vibrant, world-class health precinct to our doorstep.

It will also complement the area’s growing reputation as a lifestyle hub, acting as a further catalyst for the west’s regeneration, already replete with a wealth of cafes, shops, and beautiful open, public spaces.

The hospital will be located just a short stroll from Live City next to Victoria University’s Footscray Park campus on the corner of Geelong and Ballarat Roads, with construction due to begin next year.

It has also provided the first chance to really take in the stunning views of the Melbourne CBD and surrounding areas.

Its convenient location and proximity to public transport in the centre of Footscray means that western suburbs residents will be able to receive treatment and care faster and within their local community.

The new health precinct will replace the ageing Footscray Hospital built on Gordon Street in the 1950s and is expected to create up to 2,000 jobs during construction and operating phases.

With an increase of nearly 200 beds, it will treat almost 15,000 additional patients each year as well as almost 20,000 extra emergency department admissions, keeping local families healthy and saving lives.
